Area Championships

2026 USEA Area Championships

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL

    1. All Area Championship competitors must be current USEA Members.
    2. All qualifying competitions must be USEA registered horse trials, three-day events or CIs.
    3. Divisions must have five or more starters to count as qualifying competitions.
    4. Qualifiers must be achieved at the level intended for competition at Championships
    5. List the qualifying competitions on the entry form.

    NOTE: Whips are not permitted to be carried in the Dressage Test at USEF/USEA Championships or USEA Area Championship divisions.


    AREA I

    Huntington Farm Horse Trials August | 22-23, 2026

    Levels: Preliminary, Modified, Training, Novice, Beginner Novice, and Starter.

    Qualifying Period: July 29, 2025 - August 4, 2026

    Placing Requirement: 1st - 3rd at one recognized Event, including USEA amateur upgrade placing

    • In Area: Starter, BN, N, T
    • Any Area: P, M

    In Area: Starter, BN, N, T Any Area: P, M

    Placing 1-5 at the 2025 Championships counts as a qualifier.

    AREA II

    Maryland Horse Trials at Loch Moy | October 2-4, 2026

    Levels: Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary, Intermediate

    Qualifying Period: September 18, 2025 – September 15, 2026

    Placing to Qualify: 1st - 5th at one event

    In Area: Starter, BN, N, T, M, P Any Area: Intermediate

    Open to members of other Areas, but must qualify within Area II for Starter/BN/N/T/M/P

    AREA III

    Ocala Summer I Horse Trials | May 30-31, 2026

    Levels: Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary, Intermediate

    Divisions: OI-CH; OP-CH; OM-CH; TR-CH; TH-CH; NR-CH; NH-CH; BNR-CH; BNH-CH; SR-CH

    Qualifying Period: July 1, 2025 – May 12, 2026

    Placing Requirements:

    • Starter - Preliminary: 1st thru 5th at one event with no cross-country jump penalties
    • Intermediate: completion of a minimum of 2 events (Intermediate HT or 3*) with no cross- country penalties.

    Open to members of other Areas but non-residents must qualify within Area III.

    Texas Rose Horse Park Horse Trials | October 31-November 1

    Levels: Preliminary, Modified, Training, Novice, Beginner Novice, Starter

    Qualifying Period: October 14, 2025-October 6, 2026

    • Horse/rider pair must qualify as a pair and both horse and rider must be current USEA members at time of qualifying event and championships

    Qualifications:

    • Starter – Training: Must place 1st through 5th at the same level of the championships within Area V. Open to members outside of Area V, but must qualify within Area V.
    • Modified – Preliminary: Must place 1st through 5th at the same level of the championships in any Area. Open to members outside of Area V.

    AREA VI

    The Eventing Championships at Galway | October 28 – November 1

    Levels: Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary

    Divisions: JSR-CH; SSR-CH; OS-CH; BNR-CH; JBNR-CH; SBNR-CH; BN/N Challenge; NR-CH; JNR-CH; SNR-CH; N/T Challenge; TR-CH; JTR-CH; STR-CH; TM Challenge; MR-CH; JMR-CH; SMR-CH; M/P Challenge; OP-CH; PR-CH

    Qualifying Period: November 5, 2025 -October 18, 2026

    Qualifications: You must complete 2 events at the level as a combination in any area. You and the horse must qualify together.

    AREA VII

    Equestrians Institute Fall Horse Trials | August 28-30, 2026

    Levels: Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary, Intermediate

    Qualifying Period: September 1, 2025 - August 17, 2026

    Placing to Qualify: 1st - 5th at one Area VII Event

    The Event at Skyline September 4-6, 2026

    Levels: Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified, Preliminary

    Qualifying Period: August 14, 2025 – August 16, 2026

    • Starter through Training Level Qualifications: 1st through 5th at one USEA recognized event with a minimum of 5 starters. Modified and Preliminary placings are waived of minimum starter requirements but must achieve an MER.
    • Area IX Members may qualify in any area, but they must have competed in at least one USEA recognized event within Area IX during the qualifying time period
    • Open to members of other areas but non- Area IX riders must qualify within Area IX.
    • Rider and Horse must qualify as a pair.
