Fun Facts about Leesburg, VA (Home of USEA)
- Leesburg briefly became the nation’s emergency capital during the War of 1812, secretly housing the Constitution and Declaration of Independence in local homes and a gristmill.
- Adolph Coors built a Tudor-style mansion (Morven Park) near Leesburg, once home to beer barons, political elites, and a Virginia governor — now a public museum and park.
- The Old Leesburg Jail (built in 1804) is said to be haunted, with legends of Confederate soldiers, bootleggers, and witches still lingering in its cells.
- Leesburg once banned ice cream sales on Sundays under an old “Blue Law” that restricted “pleasure foods” — a quirky law that outlasted its enforcement.
